For those wondering if love does conquer all, Haven may bring the answer. The game is now available worldwide for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Versions for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch are coming too sometime in 2021.
In the game, players take on the role of both Yu and Kay. The couple had escaped to a forgotten world with the plan of staying together. You play both characters at the same time and explore the world while fending off enemies, in real-time. Of course, there’s the need to build the relationship.
Get the chance to explore the planet and experience gliding over tall grass, gather flow, and even clean rust. You can also enjoy moments of everyday life. Cook meals and collect resources as a couple. The main goal is to ensure that the couple makes it to the next day. Eventually, there'll come to a point when players need to choose whether they can sacrifice for love.
Emeric Thoa of The Game Bakers shared that it was four years ago when they decided “to create a game about love, and to build a game system that puts players at the center of a relationship.” Thoa explained that it was clearly not easy, but along the development process, they realized a good amount of interest from players. Thoa added that players appear to look “for a game that makes them dream about love and fight for love.”
The game is designed for solo plays. But you can choose the local co-op. Thoa revealed that they “hope the game will bring people closer in real life, allowing for cozy co-op gaming sessions.”
Haven is available digitally for $24.99 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. Developer Game Bakers is also offering the original soundtrack on all digital stores for $9.99. For those who are a bit of an old school, versions of the soundtrack in Double Vinyl and CD are available for pre-order .
