There have been massive rumors about Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software transforming the hit game of 2023 game "Hogwarts Legacy" into a live service game, but that is reportedly no longer happening.

A new update regarding the upcoming sequel of the game, unofficially dubbed as "Hogwarts Legacy 2," bears good news for fans who have a negative perception of this change.

Instead of a live service game that will possibly focus on an open-world experience, the sequel title will reportedly still focus on story-based gameplay that will allow users to explore the areas around the magic school.

'Hogwarts Legacy 2' Is Not Transforming into Live Service

A well-known insider in the industry, Jason Schreier, shared a new update that "Hogwarts Legacy 2" is not being transformed into a live service game. The credible source, known for having a direct line to Warner Bros. Games, has claimed that recent talks from within the company have confirmed that such a change will not take place.

The success that WB Games and Avalanche Software faced when it released "Hogwarts Legacy" two years ago is a significant milestone for the company, but initial reports claimed that the company considered shaking things up for the next game.

According to ComicBook Gaming's report, fans of the franchise significantly hated the idea of the "Hogwarts Legacy's" transformation into a live service game so much that they started a petition to block it.

This change to the game would significantly alter the magical experience for fans of the Wizarding World and "Hogwarts Legacy" as they enjoyed what the original game had to offer.

This came after WB Games previously hinted that it is making a switch towards offering live service games across its different IPs, with the company also allegedly applying the change to "Hogwarts Legacy."

Story-Based Gameplay Remains for 'Hogwarts Legacy'

Supposedly, this live service focus will have gamers forging their paths upon entering the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and they will not have a set story to follow, which is unlike what the first game offered.

This means players will have to suit up in their robes and get a wand fitting their personalities, then join their friends or in-game acquaintances in completing adventures, challenges, and more.

That being said, this will reportedly no longer be the case as WB Games and Avalanche Software will focus on a fitting sequel that centers on a story-based gameplay, says the insider.

The good thing about this is that gamers can explore another original story set within the Wizarding World like what "Hogwarts Legacy" originally offered, and it is what many fans have been looking forward to since the original "Harry Potter" novel series already ended.

WB Games and Avalanche Software's Success

WB Games found significant success with "Hogwarts Legacy" as it was the biggest game launch in the studio's history, with Avalanche Software being highly praised for its development of the game. This immediately prompted talks of a sequel for the game as fans want more adventures set in the Wizarding World.

Moreover, it was also confirmed before that the next "Hogwarts Legacy" game will have a crossover with Warner Bros.' development of the new "Harry Potter" series that will soon stream on Max.
