Week Nine of the NFL season and every week it seems like someone new steps up to make a name for themselves and their team. Last weekend saw the emergence of Quincy Enuwa of the Jets and the continued maturation of the Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota. Needless to say, we will continue to see more players step up this season and EA Sports will see it also.
The team at Madden NFL 17 released their Week 9 player ratings this week. Among the changes are a pair of tight ends continuing their assault on the league and the continued downfall of a once unstoppable defensive back. If you want to see the entire list of player rating changes, check out the Madden Player Ratings page. Let’s start with one of the tight ends who moved up the overall rating board.
Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs (up five points to 93 Overall)
Alex Smith’s favorite target and E! Network’s newest reality show star, Kelce saw his Madden rating move up this week after a strong game last week. Seven catches, 101 yards and a touchdown just continues to add to the legend that is probably the best tight end in the NFL currently. This is a weapon that Madden players should covet as his awareness rating went up one point and his numbers will only go up for the remainder of the season. Kelce is a must-pick up if you are able to pick him in Ultimate Team.
Darrelle Revis, CB, New York Jets (down three points to 85 Overall)
The saga of “Revis Island” continues this week as the cornerback’s numbers continue to drop in Madden. Revis doesn’t look himself and he even admitted a few weeks ago that father time is beginning to catch up to him and he is not lying. Revis looks slower and teams are beginning to go right at him, which has never happened in years. His man and zone coverage ratings along with his pressure coverage ratings all fell five points and it seems that every single week, it drops lower and lower.
Jay Ajayi, RB, Miami Dolphins (up three points to 82 Overall)
Ajayi has been a revelation after being in the Dolphins doghouse in the preseason. Two consecutive 200-yard games has made Ajayi a hot commodity in the Madden world as his numbers continue to rise. Ajayi’s awareness went up four points while his carrying rating jumped nine up to 86. Ajayi has good value for an Ultmate Team pickup and while he’s no Le'Veon Bell, he could be a missing piece for anyone’s Madden team if he is available.
Greg Olsen, TE, Carolina Panthers (up three points to 96 Overall)
Another tight end makes our list as Olson continues being Cam Newton’s favorite receiver in Carolina. Olson is consistently having game games as he has over 600 receiving yards on the season.Although he was held to one catch last week, Olson is mentioned in the same sentence with Kelce as the best tight ends in the league. Olson is a no brainer in Madden and someone who be a featured offensive weapon at all times.
