Mass Effect: Andromeda is finally here, and the multiplayer is just as fun and worth checking out as the main campaign, even if you don’t typically go for multiplayer games. However, you may have noticed things called an APEX rating and a Challenge rating. What are those all about? It has to do with how well you play.
An APEX rating is your overall score across Mass Effect: Andromeda. Because you can have multiple characters of different levels, the level of your character cannot be used to measure a player’s skills in multiplayer. This is where the APEX rating comes in. The higher the APEX score, the more skilled the player.
How exactly the APEX rating is calculated has yet to be determined. According to a user on reddit, the rating is not based solely on games played or time spent in multiplayer. This means player skills like kill/death ratio, accuracy and more are probably all funneled together to create one score.
Challenge ratings are based on how many of the game’s challenges you can complete. If you look under the “Prestige” section of the multiplayer menu, you can find all sorts of additional challenges to take on. Depending on how many you can do, your Challenge rating will go up.
If you want to see how you compare to the rest of the world, leaderboards have also been created to show off players with the highest APEX and Challenge ratings.
If you are fiending for more Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer, but aren’t home, EA has also created the APEX HQ app. This app allows you to manage your multiplayer characters, change loadouts and manage your Strike Teams while you are away from your console or PC. It’s a free download, and is available for iOS and Android devices.
