Mass Effect: Andromeda, like all previous Mass Effect games, is made all the better because of the crazy number of choices you can make throughout the game. From the beginning, players have to pick between a male Ryder or a female Ryder to play as. To experience the full game, you’re going to need to play through multiple times to make every choice possible. This means you’ll need multiple characters and save files.
Thankfully, BioWare made creating a second save file incredibly easy. It’s also a breeze to jump between any character you want.
To create a new character, simply go through the process of starting a new game. Don’t worry about saving over a previous file. You’re probably going to want to name your character something different though, just to make it easier on you when picking what game to load up. Once the new character has been made, you’re good to play like normal.
If you want to go back to an older save file, make your way back to the main menu. Choose “Load Game” and you will be brought to a screen showing your most recent character’s loading points. To switch between characters, press the L1/R1, LB/RB buttons on your controller. The character’s name at the top of the menu will change to reflect which game files you are looking at. Pick the character you want, and you can jump right into where you want to be.
If you want to start over with the same character, a New Game+ mode unlocks once you complete the campaign.
Now go forth and create all of the Ryders you want!
