Following the NeoGaf post that Nintendo is developing a brand-new handheld system alongside the Nintendo NX in 2017, Serkan Toto, CEO of Kantan a Tokyo-based game industry consultancy, clarified the new console rumors stemming from a recent comment by a Morgan Stanley analyst, saying it’s all “speculation.”
Toto even followed up his tweet with another stating “Financial institutions do this kind of future-oriented analysis all the time. The note is much longer than what was released online.”
The Nintendo MH rumors began when the aforementioned comment about Nintendo’s current business was posted to NeoGaf. Here’s the comment that had the Internet buzzing.
"The driving force up until now has been new business from "health services, theme parks and mobile games etc", but will switch over to the next generation game system (NX) and next-gen handheld game device (MH (temporary name))."
When the NX was first mentioned, the question was whether the it would be a home system, a handheld or a hybrid console. While Nintendo and other reports have described the NX as a home system, the possibility that the NX will be a hybrid device still remains.
This is especially the case since Nintendo has begun its journey into mobile gaming. Nintendo will formally introduce the NX after E3 , with the console releasing in 2017.
