While the world waits for any details regarding the Nintendo NX a new interview with Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara may make fans of the Pokémon franchise very happy.
In a talk with the Wall Street Journal, Ishihara confirmed what previous reports said about the Nintendo NX slate of games and that a Pokémon game is coming.
“The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a handheld device,” said Ishihara. “We will make games for the NX.”
Ishihara’s words confirms that the Nintendo NX will be a hybrid home/handheld console device but the Pokémon CEO refused to say whether the upcoming NX Pokémon game will be available when the NX launches in March 2017.
In the interview, Ishihara praised the reception that Pokémon Go received and that even The Pokémon Company didn’t expect the mobile app to become the phenomenon it is.
“I feel like the reaction we saw was 10 times or even 100 times bigger than we expected,” Ishihara said.
Other Pokémon products have seen uptick in sales and The Pokémon Company hopes to bring Pokémon Go to China and South Korea very soon.
Pokémon Go has increased sales of a lot of Nintendo and Pokémon products as we saw in the hardware and software sales in July . With the Pokémon Go craze, a lot of the lapsed Pokémon fans have seemingly returned to the core Pokémon games as sales of the last two games, X and Y and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire skyrocketed.
The Nintendo NX is expected to release March 2017. Pokémon Sun and Moon will release for the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
