If you’re a Pokémon Go trainer struggling to find water Pokémon, then you’re in luck. Niantic has announced the latest Pokémon Go event, Water Festival, which will increase the spawn rates of all water Pokémon.
Magikarps, Squirtles and Totodiles are specifically mentioned in the announcement but this also includes the other Water-type Pokémon and their evolutions.
The Water Festival event begins March 22 at 4 p.m. EST and doesn’t end until March 29 at 4 p.m. EST so trainers will have plenty of time to catch all of those Magikarp to finally get a Gyarados. Also, areas where Water-type Pokémon more commonly appear, you’ll have a greater chance to encounter several of the Water-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region like Mantine, Qwilfish and more.
Niantic even teases an encounter from Lapras, one of the rarer Pokémon from Gen 1.
Be on the look out for the aforementioned Squirtle, Magikarp and Totodile to get enough Pokémon Candy to evolve them and fill out your PokeDex.
Pokémon like Seel, Shellder should be more prominent and hopefully the fossil Pokémon, Omanyte and Kabuto will be more likely to appear in this new event. On the Johto side, Qwilfish, Mantine and Chinchou will be welcome sights to see in Pokémon Go during this week-long event.
