We were stoked when Rockstar first announced Red Dead Redemption 2 back in October of last year. Rockstar only shared a very brief teaser video, but the studio also announced the game would arrive in fall 2017. However, a new tweet from Rockstar reveals some disappointing changes to that timetable:
"We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes," Rockstar stated in its official blog post this week, "but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready."
"We have not run into particular issues," said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick during an earnings call on Tuesday. "We are building a new game from the ground up for the first time for new-generation consoles. And the pressure that we put on ourselves to deliver excellence and to delight consumers is extraordinary."
Beyond a seven new screenshots from Red Dead Redemption 2, few additional details were given. However, Rockstar teased more details about the game arrives this summer.
Obviously, the delay is extremely disappointing for the fans of the series. In fact, the push to spring 2018 suggests a delay of six months. Of course, if the team needs the extra time to make sure the game is dazzling, then I fully support the decision. But what will the fans do in the meantime?
Grand Theft Auto 5 updates have been few and far in between as of late, but with more time to kill between now and the launch of Red Dead Redemption, it would certainly make sense to add an extra DLC or two to keep the fans entertained. and with the extra six months added to the development time,
According to Rockstar, there will be at least one more major GTA Online DLC in the future. When the Rockstar Newswire announced its Cunning Stunts update back in March, the company also teased "Gunrunning and more coming later this spring and summer."
"Stock up and bunker down as you take on the craziest militias across the state of San Andreas in another massive update for GTA Online," Rockstar announced. "Featuring brand new weaponized vehicles and exciting new missions, get ready to fight for supremacy in the illegal arms trade and wage war with the latest in high-powered military hardware."
And now that we have even more time before Red Dead Redemption 2, it's certainly plausable there will be more to come after the Gunrunning DLC.
