Several reported leaks for the Samsung Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker have surfaced in recent weeks. Tech publication Venturebeat shared a live leak of the wearable alongside a pair of new Samsung earbuds called Gear IconX last week. Then yesterday, images of the Gear Fit 2 were discovered on an official Samsung website. Most recently, tech informant Evan Blass has shared more images of the Gear Fit 2, indicating the wearable will be available in black, pink and blue color options.
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 is expected to be announced in September during IFA, alongside the Gear S3 smartwatch . The original Gear Fit first launched in April 2014, but has not had an update since.
The Gear Fit 2 is rumored to feature a 1.84-inch AMOLED display, 4GB of internal storage, built-in GPS and water resistance, among other features, according to Venturebeat . Like most of Samsung’s smartwatches, the Gear Fit 2 will likely run Samsung’s Tizen operating system instead of Android Wear.
In September 2015, during the launch of the Gear S2, Samsung announced Android compatibility for its Tizen smartwatch. Smartphones running Android 4.4 or later can be used to control the Gear S2 with the use of Samsung’s Gear application.
Rumors also suggest Samsung may announce iOS compatibility for its upcoming wearables, meaning iPhone owners would be able to control Samsung’s smartwatches or fitness trackers with the iOS device.
At this time, no rumors about the Gear Fit 2 or the Gear S3 have been confirmed by Samsung.
