Samsung’s update to its Gear Fit fitness tracker line is expected to launch later this year. However, several leaks have given the public an idea of what the wearable will look like before its official. The most recent leak, shared on the Korean twitter account Tizen Cafe , features several images of a tracker which is supposedly the Gear Fit 2. The various images, which appear to be press renders, show how the wearable tracks heart rate, running distance, steps walked and activity maps.
Early rumors about the Gear Fit 2 suggested it might launch in September, alongside Samsung’s rumored smartwatch update, the Gear S3. However, Tizen Cafe suggests the Gear Fit 2 may instead be announced in June. There has been no confirmation from Samsung on rumors surrounding the Gear Fit 2. But pundits take the many leaks that have surfaced for the device as proof that it is coming at some point.
Current spec rumors for the Samsung Gear Fit 2 suggest the device might feature a 1.84-inch AMOLED display, 4GB of internal storage, built-in GPS and water resistance. Another rumor surrounding the Gear Fit 2 is that Samsung may implement iOS compatibility for its wearables running the Tizen operating system, meaning users will be able to control the tracker with an iPhone.
