From Software has done it again, wowing fans with its new title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The reviews from fans and critics alike all the more suggest that it is an impressive game overall. Interestingly, the game has tied with Resident Evil 2 for the best-reviewed game of 2019 so far.
Sekiro brings a uniquely refreshing challenge, one that is a bit familiar in From Software’s entire lineup of video games. But what makes it different is its exhilarating combat and intense gameplay, along with the demonic feudal Japan that the developers have created.
The game, on Xbox One at least, sits side by side with Resident Evil 2 for the best-reviewed game of 2019 so far. Both titles managed to snatch a 93/100 on Xbox One, although they have slightly lower scores on both PC and PlayStation 4. These scores could change as as other reviews roll in.
On the top five slots of Metacritic’s list of top-reviewed games this year, the two titles make it to the throne on various platforms. There is no doubt that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice deserves all the praise, not to take away anything from Resident Evil 2 and other games on the list (such as Apex Legends and Devil May Cry 5).
Right now, it seems the video game industry is being reshaped by both Capcom and From Software. Not because other studios are not doing well, but it appears these two developers have been releasing quality content so far. And as this critical acclaim accolade embraces these studios, they are definitely generating a huge deal of money.
If you have not played Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, today is the right time to give it a try. Do not be intimated by the game’s infamous difficulty level. Sure, it is very hard. In fact, calling it hard is an understatement, and there is a chance you will not be able to beat it. But that is the beauty of From Software’s creative minds. At the end of the day, there is so much to enjoy about this game apart from its combat system and lore.
