For those who have been curious about Sky Beneath, now is a good time to learn more about this game by playing the demo now available at Steam. The game is set to be released on PC sometime this year with versions for consoles dropping next year.
In a post, Mindhaven Games Creative Director Eero Kuurne shared that this demo hopes to give everyone a chance to learn more about the game’s gravity manipulation mechanics. Kuurne added that the full game version expands those systems and the demo is but a taste of what’s to come.
In the game, players take on the role of Cassie, a scavenger who's looking for valuable items in abandoned mining facilities. Helping her is none other than her inventor friend Annie, which allows her to use rather advanced alien technology. The tech lets Cassie walk on walls and ceilings and even change the gravity direction of many objects.
Sky Beneath is set on a planet where an uneasy alliance exists between technologically advanced aliens and humans. While this may initially appear to be a good thing, it has resulted in creating a divide between the rich and the poor. Cassie and Annie not only need to find a way to get off the planet but also learn what happened to those who previously lived in it.
In terms of gameplay, players take on complex puzzles that increase in difficulty. They need to travel to high-tech labs, go through floating cities, and explore alien citadels.
Features of the game include:
- Take control of the gravity.
- Master gravity and move intuitively around the environment while also manipulating objects around you.
- Overcome challenging puzzles and dangerous obstacles.
- Progress through increasingly complex scenarios to find the way out of the planet.
- Embark on a sci-fi adventure.
- Travel across mysterious environments and see alien flora and fauna.
- Experience the story of two friends on the run.
- Become a scavenger.
- Explore abandoned locations and collect any advanced alien technology you find.
- Make use of the technology to become even more powerful.
