Splatoon 2 is one of the main first-party titles for the upcoming Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, its release date has only been slated for the Summer 2017.
However, Game UK’s website listing has Splatoon 2 coming out on Aug. 18. While game retailing sites like GameStop usually put dates and prices as placeholders, they normally are placed at the end of a month or year. GameStop has Splatoon 2 slated to release on Dec. 31, which we know isn’t true.
Splatoon 2 is set to be a sequel to the popular Wii U title that burst onto the scene in 2015 and the franchise looks to be a pillar for Nintendo to insert itself into the eSports community as evidence from the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer and the fact that they are rewarding every member of the best Splatoon team at ESL with the new hybrid console.
The sequel to Splatoon will include new courses and a brand new weapon for players to choose. The Dual Revolvers will allow players to shoot twice as much ink twice as fast. The implementation of new special moves allows Inklings using this new weapon to fly up in the air and shoot ink in all directions. It’s a powerful attack that will change the way gamers play Splatoon.
Until we have confirmation from Nintendo, take this listing for Splatoon 2 with a grain of salt. We have reached out to Nintendo for comment on the Games UK listing and will update as soon as we learn more.
