The Game Awards, the annual award show that is the closest thing gaming has to the Oscars or Emmy awards, will air tonight starting at 8:30 p.m. EST. There are a number of ways to watch the event, but Steam has made itself the most attractive platform by offering viewers the chance to win free games.
Prize highlights include XCOM 2, Cuphead, Prey and many more. There will be a number of giveaways running throughout the night, and every viewer currently online during a drawing will automatically have a chance to win. Even if a viewer wins a free game, that same person will be entered into other drawings for the possibility to win multiple freebies. Unfortunately, Valve is thinking of potential scammers, and has limited entries to one account per drawing. This means if you log into multiple devices with your Steam Account to stream The Game Awards, you’re only going to get one shot anyway.
A full list of the games included in the different giveaways tonight are as follows:
Prey
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
Cuphead
What Remains of Edith Finch
Please Knock on My Door
Hidden Folks
Nidhogg 2
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Tooth and Tail
Slime Rancher
Hollow Knight
Mr. Shifty
Old Man’s Journey
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Night in the Woods
NBA 2K18 - Legend Edition Gold
Tekken 7
Project CARS 2
XCOM 2 + War of the Chosen DLC
Winners cannot pick which game will be rewarded, but you can’t win a game you already own. If you happen to own all the games left on the prize list, well, you buy a lot of games and aren’t eligible for any prizes. Games will be delivered to winners instantly, so if you get one of these free games, you can start playing as soon as your download is finished. The full rules for the giveaway can be found here.
So what do you think? Will you watch The Game Awards tonight? Will you now watch on Steam instead of Twitch, YouTube or other platforms? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
