There are a lot of cards to go over today. Rogue is finally getting a good legendary in Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods. Xaril the Poisoned Mind is a four-mana 3/2 Rogue legendary that has a Battlecry and Deathrattle that adds a random Toxin card to your hand. These Toxin cards cost one mana and have a variety of effects ranging from alright to amazing. You can return minions to your hand, give a minion three attack or stealth, deal two damage or draw a card. You get two of these Toxin cards, one when he’s summoned and one when he dies. Their low mana cost works well with Combos and cards like Edwin Vancleef – the only other good Rogue legendary.
Xaril the Poisoned Mind is a great card for Miracle Rogue, which could see a comeback after the format change. Getting low cost spells to help you draw with Gadgetzan Auctioneer can help you gain hand advantage to win the game. Everyone initially said the low mana cost Spare Parts cards that came out in Goblin vs. Gnomes would make Miracle Rogue better , but they never really had good enough effects to warrant their use. Toxin cards are a different story, with powerful effects that could seemingly swing games.
This weekend, we got some real gems and some real stinkers. Tentacles for Arms is another new card and it is terrible. For five mana you get a 2/2 weapon that returns to your hand after it’s used up. This may be the worst weapon in Hearthstone overthrowing the previous kings, Poisoned Blade and Cursed Blade . The art is the only redeeming quality of the card, the moving and swaying tentacles really lend themselves to golden animation.
The Boogeymonster is the best named card in the game. It is an eight mana 6/6 neutral legendary that gains +2/+2 whenever it attacks and kills a minion. Gruul does essentially the same thing without having any stupid conditions that need to be met. Every set has to have some bad cards, or else the good ones wouldn’t shine as bright. For every Dr. Boom we get a Tinkmaster Overspark.
