The long-announced next-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is almost here. Yesterday, the developer CD Projekt held a stream detailing the anticipated upgrade, and it is everything we wanted and more.
The update will bring a ton of new features, Netflix-related content, QoL tweaks, and some long-demanded bug fixes. You can watch the entire stream below.
Improved Visuals
The most obvious improvements are for the game visuals, beginning with introduction of ray tracing support and enhanced screen space reflections. New technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 2.1 will be added as well. You can also expect better textures and improved foliage.
Photo Mode
Like most modern games, The Witcher 3 will also get a Photo Mode and you can use this to grab some amazing shots. The devs have hinted at a photo mode contest in the future.
Netflix DLC
As promised, CD Projekt is adding even more content to the game, including a brand-new quest with proper voice acting. You can also expect new equipment for Geralt along with alternative looks for Dandelion and Nilfgaardian soldiers.
QoL Changes
The update will bring a ton of QoL tweaks. A map filter is coming along with the ability to dynamically hide the minimap. Players will be able to Quick-Cast Signs, instead of having to open the Sign Wheel every time.
A new camera option that brings you closer to the protagonist will be introduced. You can tweak the camera for exploration, combat, and horse riding separately.
The complete patch notes will be revealed closer to the release. During the stream, the devs also promised one more surprise that players will find in the game. Meanwhile, you can read the official blog for more information.
By the way, the update will go live on December 14, exclusive to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
