For the first time in franchise history, WWE 2K fans won’t have to wait months after launch for a PC port of the annualized wrestling series. 2K has confirmed plans to release the PC version of WWE 2K18 alongside the PS4 and Xbox One builds. But PC gamers will still have one fewer purchasing option, and a slightly longer wait, than their console counterparts.
2K announced the news on the series website. According to 2K, the standard and Deluxe versions of WWE 2K18 will hit Steam on Oct. 17, the same day the series returns to PS4 and Xbox One. The same pre-order bonuses offered to console fans, two versions of Kurt Angle, will also be extended to the PC community. And the Deluxe Edition, which includes the WWE 2K18 Season Pass, alternate costumes for John Cena and a pair of Cena’s former in-ring rivals, Batista and Rob Van Dam, will also be available on Valve’s digital marketplace. Unfortunately, PC gamers won’t have the option to buy the Early Access Deluxe Edition, which will let PS4 and Xbox One owners start playing four days early. There’s no word on why that version isn’t making the jump; however, it’s not hard to imagine Valve being hesitant to put a game in the Early Access section for less than a week.
There’s still no word on whether the PC version of 2K18 will include support for the Steam Workshop. Console gamers have been sharing custom superstars, belts and arenas for several years now and the ability to make similar roster changes has been a major factor in the success of Fire Pro Wrestling World. We can only hope that spirit of customization will be preserved, maybe even expanded upon, when WWE 2K18 arrives in October.

WWE 2K18 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game hits PS4, Xbox One and Steam on Oct. 17. 2K says the Switch version is also slated for fall 2017.
