If you’ve always wanted to play XCOM 2, but don’t really have the time to sit in front of your PC or console, then you’ll be glad to hear that it’s going to be available for mobile phones. You don’t even have to wait long since XCOM 2 on mobile is going to be released on November 5. However, the game is going to be available exclusively for iOS devices.
It’s not just going to be one game, since the XCOM 2 Collection is going to be offered in the iOS App Store. This collection contains:
- XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
- Four DLC packs:
- Alien Hunters
- Shen’s Last Gift
- Anarchy’s Children
- Resistance Warrior Pack
Like the original XCOM 2, this one gives players complete control and has all of the turn-based tactical combat you could ask for. Each game is a unique experience mainly because of the different combinations of goals, missions, and maps. Players can also customize how each of their soldiers look, their soldiers' loadouts, and even their abilities.
Of course, the controls have been redesigned to allow for a touch-screen Command Interface. You can watch some sample gameplay in the video below:
The XCOM 2 Collection is supported on the iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, and any other iPhone released since the iPhone X. It’s also going to be available for iPads and supports all iPad Pros released since 2017 and other iPads released since 2019.
XCOM 2 Collection is available for $24.99, and you can pre-order the game here.
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is actually an expansion of XCOM 2. This expansion introduces the new Chosen enemies to the world of XCOM. These are three elite alien-human hybrid warriors that include the Assassin, Hunter, and Warlock. Then there are the three rebel factions which give special hero classes. These are the Reapers, Templars, and Skirmishers, more or less counterparts of the Chosen.
For those not familiar, XCOM 2 is a sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown and is set 20 years after the latter. Players take the role of a resistance force that’s fighting against the ongoing alien occupation of the planet. XCOM 2 is played using a top-down perspective and makes use of turn-based tactics.
Both XCOM 2 and XCOM 2: War of the Chosen have received generally favorable reviews.
