Ghost Rider will meet Agent Coulson for the first time in Agents of SHIELD Season 4 episode 4, “Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire.” After a race between Agent Coulson’s flying Corvette named Lola and Ghost Rider’s Charger, Lucy, Robbie somehow ends up in SHIELD custody.
“As you can see in the episode, I’m in the containment pod and — at one point — the door slides open, and who knows if all hell breaks loose? But I remember being on the cargo bay of the Zephyr and that door slides open; I remember seeing Agent Phil Coulson standing in front of me,” Gabriel Luna (who plays Ghost Rider) tells CBR .
However, in the previous episode, Ghost Rider actually saved Mack and Fitz when he killed the apparitions at Momentum Labs. He’s also got a lot of info that may prove useful to SHIELD. It may not be in Coulson’s best interest to let Ghost Rider out of the containment pod and make a deal with the devil.
“Phil Coulson’s a smart guy, and when you’ve discovered a secret weapon that can do something like that, perhaps you might want to incorporate it into your plans,” Luna tells Entertainment Tonight. “We’ll have to wait and see if it does indeed happen, but Ghost Rider ain’t afraid of no ghosts.”
When Daisy finds out SHIELD has Robbie, she’ll be inclined to take action. At this point, she may need to come back to SHIELD for health reasons. In a scene from episode 4, Daisy secretly meets Jemma because the side effects from using her power are so bad. Quake could be slowly but surely working her way back into Team SHIELD, especially if they start working with Ghost Rider too. Coulson most certainly sees Daisy’s return as a possibility, and if the two are anything alike, Coulson will also see there is more good to Robbie than meets the eye.
“Something that her and Coulson have in common is their intuition on people. I think Daisy is able to see through the Ghost Rider in him and see him for who he is, which at the end of the day is a good person,” Chloe Bennet told iDigitalTimes at New York Comic Con.
However, a Ghost Rider-SHIELD partnership won’t go down if Director Jeffrey Mace has anything to say about it. He’s all about following protocol, especially registering inhumans. So if Coulson and Ghost Rider end up on the same side, it’ll most likely be under the table.
