Now that Quake and Ghost Rider are working with SHIELD, will Agent Coulson report the partnership to Director Jeffrey Mace, or keep it a secret? Clark Gregg explains Agent Coulson’s mindset when it comes to the Superhuman Registration Act, aka the Sokovia Accords.
“I think he was very torn over the Team Cap - Team Tony of it all, just because there’s a reason why you may want to register some of these people,” Gregg told iDigitalTimes at New York Comic Con. “With that said, who is registering them? Who is keeping that information?”
The new SHIELD director, Jeffrey Mace, doesn’t have the best relationship with Agent Coulson. The two don’t exactly trust each other and have very different managerial styles. From what we’ve seen, Mace seems like a straight-edge while Coulson is an off-books kind of guy. It may be best to keep Ghost Rider and Quake’s presence under wraps. In the last episode, The Watchdogs targeted several inhumans from one of SHIELD’s registration lists. If SHIELD is compromised, it wouldn’t benefit Quake or Ghost Rider to register.
“The idea of Quake being registered by this new SHIELD and this new director-- it didn't go so well. I think he [Coulson] thought the old SHIELD was safe and buttoned up and it turned out to be riddled with HYDRA,” Gregg said.
With SHIELD out of the shadows again, it’s doubtful Mace would be okay with Quake simply coming back to the team after going on a vigilante rampage. It’s also a safe bet Coulson will do anything he can to protect Daisy, because he feels partly responsible for everything that happened with Lincoln and Ward last season. “How do you feel if you’re registering your daughter, essentially?” Gregg added.
Since SHIELD really needs to find The Darkhold to prevent it getting into the wrong hands, Mace may have to suck it up and disregard the registration laws. What do you think? Should Quake and Ghost Rider register with the Sokovia Accords? Let us know in the comments below!
