On Grey’s Anatomy Season 13, episode 13, (which airs at 8 p.m. EST) several doctors are upset at April Kepner after she accepted the chief of general surgery position when Meredith was put on suspension.
Previously, April was leading the charge among the doctors rallying behind Dr. Webber keeping his position as the head of the hospital’s residency program. Chief Bailey has brought in a new doctor, Eliza Minnick, to lead the program but several doctors do not like her teaching methods.
In episode 12, Kepner attempted to get Dr. Webber’s wife, Katherine Avery (a Grey Sloan Memorial board member) on board with defending his position. However, by the end of the episode, she abandoned her position just to get a promotion.
Now, several doctors are giving Kepner the cold shoulder. An episode 13 sneak peek shows doctors Hunt, Robbins, Avery, Pierce and Riggs discussing whether it was right for Kepner to accept the chief of general surgery position in Meredith’s absence. Dr. Hunt believes she had no choice but to follow the orders of the chief of surgery; however, the other doctors believe Hunt has only taken that stance because he is a former chief of surgery.
Another sneak peek shows Kepner assigning one of Dr. Webber’s surgeries to another doctor, which brings up significant tension between the two.
Will Dr. Kepner crack under the pressure of being seen as a traitor by her fellow doctors? We will find out during Grey's Anatomy Season 13 episode 13, "It Only Gets Much Worse" which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 episode 13 premieres at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
