The Samsung Gear Fit 2 smartwatch may be announced in early June, and a new leak claims to reveal the hardware specs for the fitness tracker update. Tech blog SamMobile shared the supposed specs for the Gear Fit 2 on Monday, which include water resistance and more powerful internal components.
Prospective specs for the Gear Fit 2 include a 1.55-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz Exynos processor, 512MB of RAM and 2GB of internal storage, a 200mAh battery, and Samsung’s Tizen 2.3 operating system. The fitness tracker will include sensors such as GPS and GLONASS, heart rate sensor, gyroscope, barometer and accelerometer. And IP68 certification will ensure its functionality in 1.5-meters of water for 30 minutes.
There have been several image leaks for the Gear Fit 2 in recent weeks. The tracker is expected to come in black, blue and pink color options and may include functions like heart rate tracking, running distance, steps walked and activity maps. Rumors suggestion the Gear Fit 2 may also include iOS compatibility , which would allow users to control the wearable with an iPhone.
Older rumors also suggested Samsung might announce the Gear Fit 2 in September, alongside the rumored Gear S3 smartwatch; however, more recent rumors lean toward a June launch. The original Gear Fit first launched in April 2014, but has not had an update since.
