Sony’s My PlayStation web service is officially discontinued, but some convenience features can still be accessed.
The company released My PlayStation back in 2018 as a means for you to view, send, and manage trophies, find friends, edit your PSN profile, and most importantly, for sending messages across the Sony ecosystem.
It can be accessed via any web browser, may it be on your PC or your preferred mobile device. According to Sony: “Our goal is to bring you a compelling social experience even when you’re away from your console.”
While the platform is not as popular as other similar services, some people do use it to send messages to others in the PSN. Now, this cannot be done anymore.
My PlayStation’s web features are no longer supported as of June 28, 2021. Aside from not being able to send messages, you can no longer access your friend list, parties, or trophies from the web interface, though you can still do so using the PlayStation app.
While most of the features are no longer present, you can still visit your profile and game library, however, there are additional steps you have to take.
First, you have to log into PlayStation.com. Next, you can access your profile or game library by clicking on your avatar on the top-right and selecting the appropriate options from the drop-down menu.
Besides the removal of My PlayStation features on the web, the PS Vita Messaging service is no longer available. Those who fear that their old messages will be gone for good should not worry. All of your previous messages are still available and you can access them via your PS4 or PS5 console and via the PlayStation app on mobile.
The removal of the services is probably because the company is putting its resources on the PlayStation app. Considering that more and more people are using mobile devices nowadays, it makes sense for the company to do this.
What do you think about the discontinuation of the PS Vita Messaging Service and My PlayStation’s web features? Do you use any of the features? Are you affected by the change?
