The newest card in Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Ones has been revealed. On the Hearthstone Winter Championships Twitch stream , we got to see Eater of Secrets . It’s a 4 mana neutral minion that reads: “Destroy all enemy secrets, gain +1/+1 for each.” If this card destroys just one secret, it gets its value back. The Eater is like Kezan the Mystic, with the ability to grow into a real board threat.
This is a pretty obvious counter to the Mysterious Challenger , a card that’s dominated the ladder since The Grand Tournament came out. If the Eater of Secrets munches on a full Secret Paladin board, it gains an additional 5/5, for pretty much free. When this card is released, then Challenger will only be in Wild, but it’s good to see that Blizzard is releasing cards for both formats. Standard may be the new competitive option, but Wild will stay be very popular. I would’ve wanted a nerf to the Challenger before, but better late than never.
After the initial reveal , along the few cards that have been shown since Friday, we now know a whopping 10 cards in the set. This is barely a fraction of the 134 cards that the set will contain. There’s still so much mystery out there, and the suspense is killing me. If Blizzard keeps up these reveals my hunger may be satiated. Waking up every day to a new card reveal has been great, and I hope they keep this up after the HWC ends.
