While we don’t know every detail of the Xbox Scorpio, the next console from Microsoft, we did just learn one great tidbit. Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility will be coming to the console.
This news comes from Mike Ybarra on Twitter. Ybarra is the lead engineer for Xbox and Windows Gaming at Microsoft. While he didn’t confirm that there would be parity between the games on Xbox One’s Backward Compatibility list and those on the Scorpio, he did seem to hint that Red Dead Redemption would at least be one of the included games.
Seeing as how the Scorpio will likely just be a beefed up Xbox One, I doubt the Scorpio’s Backward Compatibility will be any different from the Xbox One’s. The entire process is software-based, so getting it up and running shouldn’t be much of a hassle.
The Scorpio will also be able to play all Xbox One games and use all Xbox One accessories moving forward. This news was announced back at E3 when Microsoft partially revealed the console.
