Start the countdown for the longest two weeks of your life because the No Man's Sky release date is on Aug. 9. Or, if you are a PC gamer, it was supposed to be until Hello Games announced that the PC version is delayed until Aug. 12.
The studio did not get into the details regarding the delay. In fact, the only indication of the delay was a date change on the No Man's Sky home page. Neogaf member Hip Hop shared a screenshot of the page on Monday.
Hello Games announced that No Man's Sky went gold earlier this month, so we know that the game is officially completed. The reason for the push back, then, is most likely to ensure server stability at launch. Given the rapidly growing antipation for No Man's Sky, Hello Games is probably looking significantly greater usage than what was initially expected.
"This is a type of game that hasn't been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation," said No Man's Sky creative director and Hello Games founder Sean Murray during a delay announcement in the past. "This is the hardest working, most talented team I've ever worked with, and I'm so proud of what we're doing. For all our sakes though, we get one shot to make this game and we can't mess it up."
